QUESTIONS ABOUT PHOTO RESTORATIONS

How do you determine pricing? Each photograph is unique and requires individual pricing. However, for a sample of what to expect, please click here to see our pricing guide.

What happens to my original photograph? All restorations are done digitally. Once your photo is scanned, we do not touch it. What you receive is a new, beautifully restored copy in addition to the original.

How do I send you my photographs?

1. Scan your photo and email it to us.

- In the preview window, select only the photo (no white showing around the photo).

-Choose the color photo setting (even for black and white photos).

-Turn all enhancements off.

-Set the resolution quality to 300 dpi (dots per inch) or higher.

-Adjust the dpi setting until you end up with a file size of about 2.5 MB

-Save the file as a high quality JPEG.

-Email your photos to: athousandwordsproductions@comcast.net one at a time.

2. By mail.  The U.S. postal service is excellent and offers tracking services as well. It is a good idea to take advantage of the extra security.

- Place photos between two pieces of cardboard or similar protection. The cardboard should be a bit larger than the largest photo.

- Use a padded envelope or special "Photo Mailer" package if you wish.

- Shipping containers should be marked "Do not bend" on both sides. If you fill out a customs form, it should be marked "photos" no value.

-Please call us at: 248-633-6976 or email us at: athousandwordsproductions@comcast.net for shipping address

3. A local photo lab. If you don’t want to mail your one of a kind photograph and you don’t have a scanner, you can go to a local photo store (ie – Kinko’s) and give them the scanning instructions above. Ask them to save the image to a CD. You can either email the photo as an attachment to athousandwordsproductions@comcast.net or mail us the disc. Please call us at: 248-633-6976 for the shipping address.

Then what happens? Once we review your photo, we will email or call you with a final price. You are under no obligation until you accept our quote. The turnaround time for a restoration is approximately one week plus time for shipping. Faster services are available depending on demand. You will receive by mail your original photo and a print of the restoration (one sheet up to 8x10). You can also order additional prints or have your photos put on CD for an additional fee.
